It has been an incredibly busy time over the past few months with several special projects and I finally have some time to provide an OSP update to those in our network. First of all I am pleased to report that we had incredibly successful “Snap into Spring” Photography Show in May at the Hoffman Center for the Arts near our place in Manzanita, OR. We sold most of the fine art photographs on display, and created a good buzz for the 4 of us photographers who displayed at the event. It was my first time curating a show and I learned a great deal-acquiring some new skills along the way. Best of all it was a lot of fun!
I also taught the Hoffman Center's very fist photography course last month and had a full house of students excited about learning the basics of photography. Next up is a course in Macro Photography that will be offered starting on August 20 at the Hoffman Center. If you have interest and happen to be visiting (or living) along the North Oregon Coast, here is a link to the class: https://hoffmanarts.org/events/macro-photography-workshop/ . I am posting an image of my closing remarks for my class last month, along with a few of my macro images as examples of the type of work I hope to teach students how to create next month.
In October I hope to teach a course in Black& White Photography, Night Photography, and then later in the year an advanced photography course. We are also looking to ramp up and offer some of my courses online soon, so stay tuned for more about that if you would like to take a course and live out of our area.
Lastly, I am honored to have been selected to serve on the board of directors for the Hoffman Center and am looking forward to deepening my connect and serving this fantastic Arts Center in this new role in addition to teaching. Wishing you a happy 4th of July Holiday!
